Just like my favorite writer Gabriel García Márquez, who writes in such a spiritual way to the point that he is able to capture the essence of natural forces that cannot be seen but felt, through my pictures I intend to do the same. In other words, I want to be able to express respect for cultures and capture the magical essence of it. It is important to mention that I have been inspired by the work of Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Graciela Iturbide and Mariana Yamponski because their work epitomizes the core of pure straight photography and just like them, my favorite subject is straight photography. I arrived at this conclusion after I photographed my hometown since it has been such a big part of my life. It was as if I wanted to bring back memories of this magical place through my pictures. Now, I live for those perfect moments, for the ideal face, place and expression. With my camera I am able to steal a portion of the world and make it my own, just the way a poet steals words to heal a broken heart or the way a painter uses colors to create his or her own world
